Qualifying process
In order to obtain a full uk driving licence you must first pass a theory test (valid for two years), this is made up of 50 mulitple choice questions with a pass mark of 43 and 14 hazard perception video clips, with 15 hazards in total (see hazaed perception information) with a pass mark of **/75
Once you have passed your theory test and your driving is to the required standard you are able to take a practical driving test for the category of vehicle you wish to drive (theory test must still be valid).
Category B (Car) allows the holder to drive vehicles up to a maximum laden weight of 3.5 tonnes, this may be a car or light van.
If you pass your practical test in an automatic car you will only be permitted to drive an automatic, however if you pass in a manual car you will be permitted to drive both automatic and manual.
