NATIONAL STANDARDS FOR DRIVER
AND RIDER TRAINING (NSDRT)
Role 6 — Deliver driver and
rider training programmes
Role 6 of the NSDRT sets out the skills, knowledge and
understanding needed by ADIs to deliver a programme of driver and rider
training:
- 6.1 — legal
requirements (instructor and vehicle)
- 6.2 — design learning
programmes (identify learning needs, create lesson plans, plan routes etc.)
- 6.3 — enable safe and
responsible driving (create a climate that promotes learning, explain/demo
skills, coach (CCL))
- 6.4 — manage risk
(give clear and timely directions and instructions, verbal/physical
intervention etc.)
- 6.5 — develop your own
skills, knowledge and understanding (act upon feedback, keep a reflective
log, identify own learning needs etc.)
Instructors need to make themselves aware of the NSDRT. Details of how the standards apply to them can be found on DVSA’s website.
We also attach a copy to this module and they can be found in the course resource file
