11. Take Proper Precautions before Starting the Engine (NS 1.2.1)

Box No. 11 covers the precautions you should take on entering your vehicle are, in order:

• Ensure all doors are closed properly
  
• Physically check that the parking brake is applied fully
  
• Check that your seat, head restraint and mirrors are adjusted properly
  
• Fit your seat belt securely
  
• Start the vehicle and check your fuel level
  
• Ensure the warning lights (other than parking brake) are not illuminated
