Inteligent Crossings

These types of crossing are ‘user friendly’ with the use of electronic devices the crossing is able to automatically detect when pedestrians are still on the crossing and delay the green light until the pedestrian has reached safety. These crossing helps to reduce unnecessary delays in allow traffic to continue as they respond to the time it takes for the pedestrian to cross. The light sequence is the same as normal traffic lights (there is no flashing amber as with pelican crossing)

Pedestrian use: Push the control button to activate, the red and green figures (person, bike or horse & rider) are displayed above the control box on your side of the road, wait for the green figure(s)
